In Japan, it is the 13th day of Obon, marked by the welcoming fire. Ancestors and pets return to their families in the evening. We welcome them with feelings of "welcome back" and "thank you." My pet cat, Shunkai, will be returning, so I am preparing a cucumber horse and an eggplant cow to wait for him.
For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.
