1. A response to God's kindness. God gave us the chance to repent, and He is all loving, powerful, kind, gracious, and merciful. He possesses all our needs and Has it in His heart to meet those needs.

Romans 2:4 NASB2020
[4] Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and restraint and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

1 John 4:8 NASB2020
[8] The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Romans 8:31-32 NASB2020
[31] What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? [32] He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

2. Have fruit. When we sin, have we done anything to prevent it, or what caused it? It's not enough to feel bad, but to also take action to draw us closer to God. Actions to prevent it like limiting our phone because it has temptation or replacing the tempting videos with educational or Biblical videos. Don't do nothing or just sit back.

[20] but continually proclaimed to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem, and then all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they are to repent and turn to God, performing deeds consistent with repentance.

3. Be extreme. Extreme measures should be taken to cut sin out of our life, even if it causes a lot of discomfort or inconvenience. Do not be complacent or indifferent with our sins, be extreme to cut sin out.

Matthew 5:30 NASB2020
[30] And if your right hand is causing you to sin, cut it off and throw it away from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.

Luke 9:23 NASB2020
[23] And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

We should not think that we can earn forgiveness, but that fruit should be from your Faith in Jesus. And that with repentance, it has actions to cut sin out. Matthew 5:30 should not be taken literally since it is hyperbole or exaggerated for extreme measures because of sin that draws us away from God. Reflect and apply. Let us seek God in everything, He is always with us, do the right thing even if it is difficult, do it for God. Let us deny ourselves and do what Jesus Christ wants us to do.
