It’s about your personal relationship and intimacy with our lord and savior. I see it as wanting to get closer to Jesus and worship Him, and that leads to wanting to closer the teachings of his apostles and those closest to His teachings. Specifically the first few hundred years. We owe it to ourselves to at least do that and wherever your faith takes you after that is wherever God is meeting you. Let faith, love and hope guide you

You are right, our God is not a God of confusion. Read John 6:25-70. Jesus explains through an analogy that our salvation is a matter of faith and belief in Him, not of anything else. He uses eating the bread of life as an analogy here— but eating the bread means to believe that Jesus will has paid the price for our sins fully on the cross— making us righteous in His eyes and thus being saved by what He did, not of any works that we do. Good works afterwards are a byproduct of our faith. He also says that we shall never lose any of us that the Father has given Him (John 6:39) — so let that be reassurance that once you are saved, you are sealed with the Holy Spirit and CAN NOT lose your salvation. Also read Ephesians 2:8, Titus 3:4-7, Romans 3:28, Galatians 2:16, Romans 5:1 and of course John 3:16. God bless you and all that read this! Jesus paid it ALL on the cross.
