I would like to get closer to God and thus keep more sins out of my life, but unfortunately, I can't manage it. Even though I notice that God helps me and is there for me, I would like to ask for help to get even closer to God and Jesus.

Are you fasting while reading his Word? It's very powerful but you have to meet God halfway. It's not the same as praying. You don't have to fast for days, just postpone one meal then eat later.
