Lord Jesus, I thank you for silencing the Pharisees and scribes today and for cleansing the temple. They turned the temple into an investment and thus drove God away from this place. The poor were not allowed to pray to you, and the merchants cheated the pilgrims who came from afar. You cleansed the temple, drove out the merchants, and judged the high priests and elders of Israel. Through the new church built by you, all people, whether poor or rich, can come near you and see the wonders of your spirit. You silenced the Pharisees and Sadducees, and they could not trick or confuse you. You told your disciples about the events of the end times, and we await your return to judge us all. May you give us the strength, Lord, so that all people find you and are saved. I am also a sinner who would not enter heaven without you; forgive me, Lord, for the things I do against you. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
He said to them, "It is written: 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a den of robbers!"
