I have a brother with autism. I find it difficult to understand his behavior, and sometimes I treat him harshly. I want to be kind, but when he acts rebellious, breaks my things, fights, or takes his frustrations out on me, it becomes exhausting. I even think about wanting to live separately. How can I treat him kindly? Personally, I believe that Japan faces challenges in terms of support, understanding, education, and management for people with disabilities and their families compared to other countries, especially the United States. I can't go into detail, but if you research in Japanese or talk to someone familiar with the situation, you'll understand the background. My brother, after spending time with other (rebellious) disabled individuals, has lost some of the abilities he once had and is mimicking their undesirable behaviors. I don't intend to speak ill of or deny people with disabilities, so I apologize if I have made anyone uncomfortable. I digressed, but when I was praying, he sometimes had a gentle expression and was stable in his behavior. However, now I feel like I'm not praying enough or sincerely, and he's reverted to his previous state. I genuinely don't know what to do. I hope he makes good choices for his life. That's why I wonder if he believes in Jesus. Does he have faith in Jesus? Does he pray, or does he know what Jesus has done for us? I want him to feel the salvation I have through Jesus, but his intelligence is about the same as Sam from the movie "I Am Sam." He can say simple words like "candy," "please," "that," and "this," but he can't read or write at all, and he often plays pranks and seems amused by the discomfort he causes. Ultimately, I wonder if he truly knows Jesus from his heart, if he has faith, and if he consults Jesus in his heart. I hope he believes in Jesus and communicates with Him at all times, so I would be grateful if you could pray with me for this.
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
