Have you ever asked yourself:
Why did David take five stones?
Even though he knocked down Goliath with just one stone!
📖 The Bible says:
"He chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag."
(1 Samuel 17:40)
But the strange thing is...
David was confident that God would give him victory.
So why didn't he just take one stone?
There is a deep secret behind the scene.
🔹 First:
David did not enter the battle with an empty spiritual display.
True faith does not negate preparation.
He trusted in God...
But he also prepared the stones.
God gives victory,
But the faithful person prepares for war.
🔹 Second:
The Bible later reveals that Goliath also had brothers who were giants.
📖 "Four were born to the giant in Gath."
(2 Samuel 21:22)
It was as if David was prepared not only for Goliath...
But for any other giant that might appear.
True faith does not prepare itself for just one battle,
But for a whole life of spiritual wars.
🔹 But the most beautiful secret...
Is that the stones were "smooth."
A smooth stone does not form quickly.
It is shaped after many years in the valley,
Amidst the friction of water, pressure, and shocks.
And so was David himself.
Before the palace...
There was a valley.
Before the crown...
There was obscurity.
Before Goliath...
There were years of formation with God amidst the wilderness, sheep, and solitude.
God did not use sharp and unstable stones...
But stones polished by the valley.
And that is why a small stone could defeat a heavily armed giant.
📖 "The battle is the Lord's."
(1 Samuel 17:47)
You may feel that your life is now in a "valley" full of pressure, fatigue, and delay.
But perhaps God is not breaking you...
But polishing you.
Because the stones God uses to bring down giants...
Are the stones that have spent a long time in the valley.
And what seems weak in the eyes of people,
May defeat the greatest Goliath standing before you.
