Honestly, as you get closer to God. I dont think you'll even want to listen to it. The more you pay attention, the more you'll realize that the root of many of those songs is sin and glorifying flesh. Also, it does effect you, especially if you sing it. Dont ever sing the secular songs. That is literally manifesting what they say when you sing it. Otherwise, even if you listen to it as backround noise, just like how it is with listening to worship in the backround, whether you see it or not it shapes you.Romans 8:5 NIV [5] Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. Keep in mind what I'm saying is not a condemnation. Clearly, as i can see feom this post, you have been convicted. The feeling to want to turn feom this music is the holy spirit. The want to stay is your flesh fighting to keep you. Luckily, thats not your battle to win. Matthew 6:33-34 NIV [33] But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. [34] Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. https://bible.com/bible/111/mat.6.33-34.NIV

A primeira coisa que Deus tirou de mim, foi a a vontade de escutar músicas mundanas, seja qual for. Músicas moldam sua mente seu jeito de ser.

If you're struggling with whether to listen to it or not, that could simply be your answer right there, as the spirit is pulling you toward more spiritual growth. I'd also say while it's purely Christ's sacrifice that allows us to have life, with that also comes the sacrifice of worldly things to be more Christ-like because of the true love and passion we have to be better out of love for him. And all that to say, it's the Holy Spirit that works in us to convict us of this fact, so that we may not boast in our own doing. Lastly, if the music you're listening to or entertainment you're watching isn't building you up, I would most definitely get rid of it. That's not to say everything has to be gospel music, but find songs that aren't filled with cursing or sexual innuendos.

It is better to avoid, as the scriptures say to flee temptation. If the music is glorifying sin, just be mindful of this. God bless.
