The term "gospel" comes from the Greek "euangelion," which means "good news" or "good tidings." In the Christian context, it refers to the message of salvation through Jesus Christ; it is the proclamation that He came into the world, died for our sins, and rose again to offer eternal life to those who believe in Him.
On the other hand, an "evangelist" is a person who proclaims or preaches the gospel, bringing the message of salvation to others. In the New Testament, it specifically refers to those who wrote the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), as well as others who dedicated themselves to sharing the good news of Christ in their community. The work of the evangelist is crucial for the growth of the kingdom of God by attracting others to faith in Christ.
He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."
