Good morning
Bible Scripture Romans 12:20 (KJV):
“Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.”
Reflection:
This verse flips human logic upside down. Instead of responding to enemies with anger, distance, or revenge, God calls us to respond with kindness, compassion, and generosity.
This doesn’t mean approving their behavior or pretending the hurt didn’t happen. It means refusing to let their actions control your character.
✅ What this verse teaches:
1. Love is stronger than hate.
Kindness disarms what bitterness tries to fuel.
2. Your response is spiritual warfare.
When you bless instead of retaliate, you take the enemy’s power away.
3. God uses kindness to convict hearts.
“Heaping coals of fire” symbolizes conviction your goodness can awaken repentance or shame in the wrongdoer without you ever lifting a hand.
4. You rise above the flesh.
When you love your enemy, you are acting like Christ who loved us even when we were against Him.
This verse is not about being weak it’s about being spiritually victorious. Revenge keeps you tied to the offense. Kindness sets you free.
You don’t overcome evil by matching it.
You overcome evil by rising above it.
Prayer:
Father God,
Help me to walk in your love even toward those who have hurt or opposed me. Give me the strength to respond with kindness instead of retaliation, grace instead of anger.
Soften my heart, Lord, and protect it from bitterness. Teach me to see people the way you see them as souls in need of your love and transformation.
Let my actions reflect Christ, and let my kindness be a testimony that brings conviction, healing, and peace.
Fight my battles for me, and help me to trust your justice over my emotions. In Jesus trustworthy name I pray, Amen.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
