Contemplate Today - (Noah's Ark Symbolizes Christ)
The Lord said to Noah, "Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch..." (Genesis 6:14-)
Noah's Ark is mentioned in (Genesis 6 and 7), (Job 22), (Isaiah 54), (Matthew 24), (Hebrews 11). It is not a myth as some claim, and excavations have proven that it happened. In England, they found 50 elephants in a pit and marine animals dead from that era.
The ark means a hollow box or chest made of (gopher) cedar or cypress wood, which is strong and stable. It symbolizes Christ in seven beautiful points:
1. The project of building the ark is from God, just as the project of human salvation and redemption is. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish..." (John 3:16). God sent the man Jesus Christ, even though He is God manifested in the flesh, to save the perishing human and take the punishment for their sins in His body on the cross.
2. The ark is a place of refuge from death through faith or believing in God's word. "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on them." (John 3:36)
3. It is coated with pitch, a resinous material for protection from inside and outside so that it does not sink, and water cannot seep into it. Similarly, everyone who takes refuge in Christ, who had no form or beauty... "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ..." (Romans 8:1)
4. The ark had three floors, and salvation also has three aspects (past, present, and future) or salvation from the judgment and punishment of sin - this is in the past, and salvation from the power of sin is daily (Romans 10:5). We are reconciled... we are saved by His life, as happened in the war of Israel and Amalek, which is continuous salvation in the present - then salvation from the body of sin when the Lord comes "waiting for the mercy of our Lord for eternal life," which is eternal salvation that will happen in the future.
Or it can also be said that salvation is from three enemies: Satan, the world, and the body (i.e., the body of sin, the fallen nature, not the flesh and blood body).
5. The ark was exposed to currents, the windows of the heavens were opened, and the fountains of the deep burst forth like a tsunami, from below the earth. Also, God's judgment and wrath were poured out on Christ, our substitute (Isaiah 53) "He was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities... and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all..." This was from above; He was crushed there on the cross.
6. It has one door, meaning one way to salvation, which is taking refuge in the person of Christ, who said, "I am the door; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture." (John 10) The apostle Peter says in (Acts 4:12) "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." The apostle Paul says, "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus..." (1 Timothy 2:5)
7. It rested on Mount Ararat (Armenia), meaning the highlands, 15 cubits above the highest mountains. This signifies the resurrection of Christ and His ascension to the heavens "After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven, above all rule and authority and power. God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name..."
Thus, we see that the ark symbolizes the true ark of salvation, the person of the Lord Jesus...
Brother, have you taken refuge in this ark of salvation? Hurry now before it's too late.
If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
